IHI Excavators (NX, N and J Series) |
Compact
excavators bring
a lot of advantages for a range of construction jobsites. Mini excavators are,
first and foremost, powerful little machines, using cutting-edge hydraulics and
electronics to attain high productivity and precise controls in a compact, space-saving
unit powered by a fuel-efficient, small-horsepower diesel engine. This equipment
is for rent at Gold Coast Hi Lift.
IHI
has been producing mini excavators since the early 1970s, offering conventional
style and zero tailswing excavators to an increasing customer base all around
the world. In fact, IHI was the first company to introduce zero tailswing mini
excavators into the United States 11 years ago.

In
the U.S., IHI
excavators
are distributed by Compact Excavator Sales, based in Elizabethtown, Ky. Compact
Excavator Sales opened its doors in the spring of 1994. At that time, the company
consisted of one salesman and a very small warehouse. A decade later, the business
has advanced into a new league of operation, maintaining a large inventory of
excavators and crawlers carriers, stocking 100 to 250 products depending on the
time of year. Inventory includes everything from four-post 7Js to 80NXs with cabs.
IHI is on its third generation of mini excavators and all excavators are still
made in Yokohama, Japan.
IHI
Excavators Models:
Compact
Excavator Sales LLC distributes 12
models of IHI mini excavators - the 9NX, 15NX, 25NX, 30NX-2, 35NX,
35N, 45NX, 65NX, 7J and 80NX. The NXs are zero tailswing and the Ns are conventional
style excavators. Compact Excavator Sales LLC mainly targets rental companies,
utility contractors, plumbers, landscapers, demolition contractors and municipalities
for its sales of IHI mini excavators.
All
of these IHI mini excavators are powered by Yanmar engines, designated
as self-priming diesels, which means if the customer runs out of fuel, the unit
can be restarted without any major service work. These mini digging machines run
four-pump hydraulic systems, which consist of two gear pumps and two piston pumps.
This allows the contractor to run multiple functions all at once with the same
amount of power to each function. Eleven out of the 12 models, including the 15nx-2
up to the 80nx-3, have this four-pump hydraulic system. All units come with
suspension seats and arm rests.
IHI
Excavators Features:
In
the excavator models with operator cabs, IHI also has air conditioning available
and an AM/FM CD player. Considering safety, all IHI
mini excavators have a four post ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structures),
safety levers and automatic shut off valves. Control patterns can be changed by
simply flipping a switch to go from ISO to SAE and all models have two travel
speeds. Excavator options consist of different buckets, cabs, quick couplers,
steel tracks and various attachments. But the standard units come nicely equipped,
including independent boom swing, hydraulic piping, pattern change valve, backfill
blade and a suspension seat.
IHI
promotes excellent balance and stability and quiet and smooth operations with
its 12 models of mini excavators. Quality craftsmanship has remained a
constant for IHI products, says Compact Excavator Sales LLC, leading into two
new models (the 30NX-2 and 65NX zero tailswing models), introduced earlier this
year. The 35n-2 and the 35nx-2 are IHI's most popular units - they're rental friendly.
These excavators
can be hauled by most any contractor and they have a digging depth of 10.6 to
11.4 ft, depending on if the contractor chooses the conventional style or zero
tailswing model. IHI also has three mini excavators with an expandable undercarriage
- the 9nx-2, 15nx-2 and 35nx-2 - which all expand and retract 6 in. on each side.
